Bass, Guitar & Vocals
A mild-mannered banker by day, Bill Sheffer unleashes his inner rocker persona by night and weekends with BCX. Bill plays bass and guitar and, provides lead and backup vocals for BCX which he formed with drummer Fred Poritsky. Bill and Fred first performed together in 2016 along with Chip Stewart as Shef Stew at local open mike shows.
Bill contributes a few of his own compositions to the BCX repertoire. He says “It’s a thrill of a lifetime” to hear BCX play my originals such as the rockabilly ”Square One”, pop ballad “Every Time I See Your Face” and light rocker “Be Sure To Write”. Bill also plays bass, and records with indie pop-rocker band Rose Parade where he first met and played with BCX lead guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Elliot Wolf. After Wolf left Rose Parade, he and Bill re-connected in 2016 when Bill asked Elliot to add a guitar solo on one of his original recordings.
Like millions of Baby Boomers, Bill caught the music bug after watching the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. “The next day you could feel the electricity in the hallways at school” Bill recalls. He loves melody, hooks and harmonies. Besides Lennon and McCartney, his favorite songwriters are the Brothers Gibb, John Fogerty and Collective Soul’s Ed Roland.
